Robert Thompson joined Jacobsen & McElroy as Of Counsel after practicing law in Sacramento for 32 years. Bob was formerly the Managing Partner of Thompson, Meade & Brodovsky and its predecessor, Thompson & Heller, which practiced exclusively insurance defense litigation for many years. For the last 6 years Bob has been a solo practitioner at the Law Offices of Robert M. Thompson, specializing in general civil litigation. At Jacobsen & McElroy, Bob will handle the defense of both personal injury and construction defect lawsuits.

Bob graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1970 with degrees in political science and rhetoric. In 1973, he graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Since 1988, Bob has served as an Arbitrator and Settlement Conference Judge, Pro-tem for the Sacramento Superior Court and acts as a private arbitrator and mediator throughout the Sacramento area. He is currently a member of the Sacramento County and American Bar Associations and the State Bar of California. Bob has extensive trial experience, having tried in excess of 40 jury trials to completion and carries the highest rating available, AV, from the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
